Why Do We Run?

Why do we run?...If I could understand Spanish, I might be able to tell you the answer. That's not because all the answers to life are written down in Spanish, but because in this latest spot for Nike by Director Joan Cobos, he gives us a metaphorical insight as to why? Why do we run? At least I think he does but it's in Spanish?.... and like I said, I don't speak Spanish.

Regardless of why we run, this is a beautifully crafted little film, which features David Bustos, the best young spanish athlete of 2012 and former Team Nike runner. Cut by Quin

Well Done Chris!

Under normal circumstances, if a grown man spends a week of his life playing with teddy bears night and day, you'd get a little worried about him, maybe de-friend him? Especially when he's making them act out a series of sick, gruesome murders involving guns, saws and grenades. However, this is just how life goes for Director and great friend of tenthree, Chris Ullens. He did all of the above to create this amazing stop-frame animation music video for Amin Tobin's Two Fingers. Edited by Jimmy, It's a masterpiece and we'd expect nothing less from Chris. So we were even more chuffed to hear that he'd won Best Animation and the Los Angeles Music Video Festival. Double thumbs up!

The Answer To Everything

It's not too often we get serious at tenthree but last year when Rupert Jones approached us to get on board with a project for Charity Streetwise Opera it was an offer we couldn't refuse. Streetwise Opera runs weekly music programmes for homeless people culminating in a large-scale annual show.

That culmination came last week at the BFI with 'The Answer to Everything', which is perhaps uniquely, part opera, part film and part sales-conference in which the film Rupert created was part of an interactive performance featuring 50 Streetwise performers and professional performers. The film received 5* reviews in The Time and The Guardian.

Below is the trailer for the film, which was cut by Quin, Kev and Becs.

Go Compare & Ben Wheatley

Over the weekend you may have seen the latest GoCompare ad in which Gio Compario - the worlds most annoying opera singer - doesn't sing! Instead, the brand's mascot is seen pitching new advertising ideas to his GoCompare colleagues with a somewhat less than enthusiastic reception. This is the first in a series of new ad's from the price comparison website in which Gio takes on a more comic role.

The agency behind the campaign (Dare) have enlisted the expertise of multi-award winning Director Ben Wheatley to direct the spots and we were delighted to have him at tenthree for the duration. Ben is considered by many critics to be one of Britain's most significant directors. After directing comedy series Modern Toss for channel 4, he wrote, produced and directed his first feature film, Down Terrace (2009). He shot the film in 8 days and it went on to win the Jury Prize at the Raindance Film Festival. More recently, he's had huge success with horror feature Kill List (2011) and Sightseers (2012), a dark comedy about a couple on a caravan trip, which have both earned him numerous awards.

Cut by Quin, here's 'Double Dog'. In 2 days it's already got over 250,000 views on YouTube.

Kronenbourg - Farmers Of Alsace

OK, so we're catching up a bit on posting this but it's never too late to pay homage to The King. A legend in his field and always pleasure to watch him at work...no we're not talking about Cantona, we're talking about Filip Malasek.

In the last 6 months we've had the pleasure of welcoming Filip into tenthree Towers on jobs for Kronenbourg and Acer. As an Editor, Filip has worked on many award-winning commercial spots, winning in Cannes, at D&AD, British Arrows and many others. Working consistently over the years with some of the industries top Directors on spots for Honda, Adidas, Stella Artios, Coca Cola and Magners. Most of all though, he's a pleasure to have around and completely self sufficient! Here's his latest spot for Kronenbourg.

Dr Martens - Ash

This was one of our favourite jobs at tenthree last year and we've had to wait over 6 months to see the finished film. Shot over a day in Manchester, the film follows British model Ash Stymest and his crew - featuring models Todd Taylor and Adwoa Aboah - in true gritty Dr Martens style. Stymest narrates the film, sharing his thoughts on love, life and growing up. It's a beautiful, raw piece of film-making and it wouldn't surprise us if Ash makes it as an actor, as the film will show you, he's a natural in front of camera.

Audi R8 - V10

You know when you're young and curious and you take apart the VHS player to "see how it works". We've all done it. The only problem is it's never quite so easy to put but together and never actually works again and there goes 6months pocket money. So spare a thought Mark Jenkinson and Quin who took the back off this £80K Audi R8 super car to make this beautiful very noisy piece of work. Lets just hope they can put it back together.
