For those of you that missed it last week, here is your chance to watch the latest instalment of Gentlemen Of The Road. This series of black and white films directed by FRED & NICK have documented life on the road with Mumford & Sons since 2009. Part 5 focuses on the inception of their new album Babel and the one-day stopover events headlined and curated by Mumford & Sons, with heavy involvement from local communities, from the produce sold on the sites, to engaging visitors with the towns as a whole.

Christmas Catch Up!
It's been a while since we've had a blog post and we've been inundated with emails and letters asking why??? Well.... It's been awfully busy, coupled with staff being away on jobs and holidays, so unfortunately the blog has been the one to suffer.
We're keeping the Christmassy vibe going with Christian Bevilacqua's lovely ad for B&Q, cut by Al Sinclair. They've put the power tools and polyfilla aside to concentrate on what really counts at Christmas....family...and toys. Get your tissues out for this one!
Director: Christian Bevilacqua @ Stink
Producer: Annie Hart
Agency: McCann Erickson
Editor: Al Sinclair
While the Christmas buzz was building, tenthree were left 2-men short for 16 days as Dom - who'd just returned from a 2 week holiday in Thailand - and Quin were whisked off to Buenos Aires on a job. While they assure us they were working very hard, it seems like they were living the life of luxury at the same time. Constant updates of how incredible the Spa, swimming pool, fruit delivery service, red wine and steak tenderness were annoying everyone back home braving the cold. Here's a few of the censored photos they were sending.

Christmas!
Yes it's the 8th of November and here it is, the first Christmas blog post of the year!
This week 2 of our Christmas spots were released, which means the excitement starts.....NOW!
The first spot is part of a multi-million pound Christmas campaign for Debenhams. It's the first time in 6 years Debenhams have created a big budget Christmas ad, which builds on the success of the 'Life Made Fabulous' campaign. The advert follows a girl's journey home for Christmas and along the way she sees the familiar sight of designers working away in their studios. Shot by tenthree favourite Ben Quinn, this epic spectacle has really got us feeling festive, albeit prematurely.
Director: Ben Quinn
Producer: Alan Traquair
Agency: JWT
Editor: Billy Mead
The next of our Christmas treats is the second installment from the beauty and class that is Myleene Klass! Set in a snowy winter wonderland, Myleene - with the help of Santa - is using her magical powers to make dreams come true.

And the Winner is....
In the last couple of weeks a few of the campaigns we worked on this year have pick up awards. tenthree favourites FRED & NICK picked up a brace with DMs #FIRSTANDFOREVER winning silver at Campaign Big awards for direct campaign and Yorkshire Tea the Story of Little Urn getting a Silver in the IPA Effectiveness awards. Both of those were cut by Billy so well done Billy and well done lads...what a team.
Our other winner was Aldi, directed by MJ Delaney and cut by Becs, as it added two more awards to the shed load it's already won. This time round they picked up Gold at the IPA Effectiveness Awards and Silver at the Campaign big awards for best film campaign. Good work girls.

Post Office - Handled With Care
I think many people, including myself, only relate the Post Office to...well...posting stuff? Naturally. Oh and maybe those bonds that your Grandparents set up for you as a child that accrue an extra £30 over the 20 years it's been sat there. However, I think the Post Office have realised this (probably not the real reason) and come up with a brand new campaign to reposition and modernise itself as a brand that can take care of all the important things in life.
Directed by creative genius and tenthree favourite Walter Campbell, the ad features people travelling, moving house, keeping in touch by mail, phone and online. It's beautifully shot and narrated by an employee of the Post Office, describing how his average day can affect people's lives.

Sky+
Anyone watching The XFactor or Homeland this weekend (and there's a lot of you) will have been perplexed for a moment as to why their TV appeared to start rewinding and continuously replaying an advert for Ginger Pig which featured some particularly lovely looking sausages. This was a clever stunt by Sky to showcase the capabilities of their Sky+ offerings and it's Campaign's Ad Of The Day here.
The campaign launched with a suite of TV commercials featuring some of the UK’s biggest household names including Jonathan Ross, Lilly Allen, Sanjeev Bhasker and Sir Chris Hoy, extolling the virtues of both new and existing Sky+ features. All masterfully edited by Becs!

Hotel GB
For one week and one week only Channel 4 have taken over a hotel in South London and filled it with celebrities and unemployed people. Sounds great doesn't it? Theres more to it, stay with me. The aim is to show the unemployed staff that hard work and a great attitude are the best way to get on, which is instilled in them by their celeb mentors, such as Gordon f**kin Ramsey and Mary Portas. All the profits from the hotel go to various employment charities, so it's all for a good cause. Other celebs doing their bit in the hotel include Gok Wan, Dr Christian, Katie Piper, Kim Woodburn and Kirsty & Phil.

Billy's Box For Shots
Anyone who knows Billy will know how much he hates having his picture taken, let alone pose like the Karate Kid tangled in film. However he was a good sport and it was for a worthy cause as Billy was featured in this Shots article for the APA, who brought together their choice of London's top commercial Editors. Well done Bill, great shot! (Bottom right)

A is for Al Sinclair
tenthree are delighted to announce that the multi award-winning, Al Sinclair has officially joined our roster of talented editors.
Al actually started editing when he was 8 years old. Much to his parents dismay his techniques then involved VHS tapes, scissors, Pritt Stick and bleach. Old habits die hard but rest assured, Al has now refined those methods and we are proud to have him on board. Welcome to tenthree Al.

Martin Aamund - Budweiser
A few months ago we had Director Martin Aamund in for a double whammy of Budweiser jobs. The first spot was for the sponsorship of the FA Cup and the second was an abstract piece for the lovely nightclub-going folk in Russia. Both jobs had a completely different look and feel and furthermore so did the Director's Cuts. However, after months of anticipation they've finally been finished up and we're excited to share them.

Auto Trader - The One
We were delighted to have the Superglue dream team back at tenthree towers working with Quin on this series of spots for Auto Trader. It was up to Director and tenthree favourite Mark Jenkinson to recreate that glorious feeling of getting a new car and experiencing it for the first time. We all remember the sweet smell of the interior, the feeling as you insert your key into that unfamiliar hole..... and the purr of the engine when you first start her up. Unfortunately when your first car is a smelly 8th hand Renault Clio, like mine, you have to try a little harder to enjoy the moment.
Nevertheless, working through the years, it seems that the magic of this moment hasn't changed much even as the cars (and the fashions) have.

Lianne Las Havas - Forget
First and foremost, apologies to the thousands of people who wrote in to complain about the lack of blogging this month. Unfortunately we've been 'enjoying' a busy period and the blog has suffered because of this. Sorry.
To emphasize how bad we feel and to prove how much we care, we're dedicating this post to YOU and we've carefully chosen this particular video to express our feelings. It's called Forget and hopefully the message is clear - we will try not to Forget to update the blog...... Jimmy also happened to cut the video, which is somewhat coincidental.
A big slice of New York cool, some clever camera moves and the gorgeous Lianne La Havas all combine for Lianne Las Havas's latest promo, Directed by Alex Southam.

tenthree do Urban Golf
Last night we all headed down to Urban Golf on Great Pulteney Street for a bit of a company outing. We fancied something other than going to the pub for a drink, so we decided to play golf AND drink. It was a tough call between this and team building at Go Ape.....actually no it wasn't.
It was a chance for everyone to let out their competitive side and have a lot of fun, however, in retrospect we probably should've played teams as we only managed to complete 3 holes in two hours! The highlight has to be when Becs managed to hit the ball BEHIND her, from the tee! We still don't know how it happened but it was amazing and she may be the only golfer in the world able to do this.

Vattenfall - Olympic Portraits
We've been waiting to show these little gems for a while now. Charlie was whisked off to Stockholm for a few weeks to cut a series of Olympic films with homegrown talent Thomas Hilland for energy giant Vattenfall.
Vattenfall is sponsoring thirty young talents to give them the best conditions to make it all the way to the Olympics. Instead of supporting already established athletes, Vattenfall chooses to promote the young and still unknown.
We knew from the first look at the rushes that this was going to be a special job and after months of wait we've finally got our hands on the first few films.

Bradley Wiggins by Stanley Chow
Here at tenthree towers we love cycling. We cycle to work. We cycle to shops. We cycle to the pub. What we can't do is cycle 2,173 miles over loads of mountains in 87 hours 34 minutes and 47 seconds. Bradley Wiggins can and that's why we love him and it seems friend of tenthree Stanley Chow does too because he's done this awesome homage to Le Gentleman, looking resplendent in the maillot jaune. Good work Brad!

Mama Campbell's Banana Bread
At tenthree we like to think of ourselves as connoisseurs of cake so we're always open to try out others recipes. One of our mates' mummy has been kind enough to share her famous banana bread recipe and we've been kind enough to share it with everyone!
Ingredients:
Ingredients:
220g Plain flour
160g Granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Eggs
125ml vegetable oil
60g Walnuts
3 well mashed ripe bananas
This cake is so easy to make all you need is one bowl. Start by combining the flour, sugar, baking powder and cinnamon. Make a well in the centre of the bowl and add the vanilla extract, eggs and vegetable oil. This gives a very dry mixture but have no fear your bananas will transform it. According to Mama Campbell the secret to this recipe is the bananas. They must be over ripe and starting to go a bit brown. This means they are super mushy and extra bananay!!! Mash them up and add them to the mixture. Finally add 45g of the walnuts and put the mixture into a greased and lined 20cm x 10cm loaf tin. For the final touch sprinkle the top with brown sugar and the remaining walnut for toasted nutty brown brown crusty of justice.
Stick it in the oven of an hour at 160. Then eat it piping hot straight out of the oven with vanilla ice cream. Or cold the next day with a cuppa and a slathering of nutella!!!
ENJOY!!!

Tibs - Short Film
Don't be fooled people. Cats - much like strippers - like to make us think they'd love nothing more than to spend all their time with us being affectionate and cuddly but when it comes down to it, they're only after one thing - the next meal! Sure, some cats are better actors than others but it's only a matter of time before they show their true colours. Take for instance the cat in this short film - Directed by Sam Huntley and cut by Kev - 'Tibs'. This little guy would give Pol Pot, Vlad The Impaler and Mugabe a run for their money. First impressions would suggest he's an adorable, cute, house-trained pet but as the film progresses we start to see a darker side to him, his demeanour switches and you find yourself in limbo as to whether you should ever befriend a feline again.
This film is part of the Virgin Media Shorts 2012 competition and it was created by Director Sam Huntley who's achieved a lot of success with his previous shorts. We're always excited to work with new Directors and thanks to some great performances and a clever story we think he's on to another winner. Click on Tibs to watch the video

Match.com - Finding Love
Some people wait a lifetime to meet that special person and fall in love. Others fall in and out of love their whole lives. There's no right or wrong, it's something we're all searching for there's no doubt about that. However, before we can really understand love and make the most of it I guess the big question we need to ask ourselves is.....what....is love? To even begin to think about answering that question you need experience. I'm not talking about bed hopping or Infernos on a friday. I'm talking about DATES! The timely tradition of courting a lady has been practiced by humans for thousands of years, it's a tried and tested formula and guess what, it works. As with all things on earth it's had to evolve and as we live most of our lives through the internet, it's no surprise that internet dating has become so popular. As match.com say, 1 in 5 relationships now start online.

Vote For Quin! Louis Vuitton - Journey Awards
Quin and Director Joan Cobos at Palma Pictures have made the shortlist for the Louis Vuitton Journey Awards with their beautiful short film 'Laura'. Please vote for the film HERE. NOW! If you haven't heard of these awards before, here is some copy and pasted information for your perusal.
The heart of Louis Vuitton has always been about travel, both in its real and emotional sense. It was to convey this that the original Journeys film was made. In 2009, this film was revisited by the director Wong Kar Wai who brought his own inimitable style to the story.
So three years ago Louis Vuitton launched Journeys Awards inspired by their own short film: The first edition focused on the notion of journey, both in its physical and emotional meaning. This year Louis (not King Louis of Jungle Book) launched the 2nd edition with this brief: What is an encounter? How does it affect you? What do you encounter when you travel? These are the questions you will have to answer in a personal video.
...And so I present to you - 'Laura' - Exterior and interior infuences that are the base of creation. The encounter between the artist and the inspiration.

Cavendish Flying The Flag
Forget the Euros, the Rugby World Cup or even the Olympics because the Tour de France started at the weekend and as far as we're concerned it's the greatest sporting event there is. Even more importantly, Britain has a genuine chance of actually winning!!!
Bradley Wiggins will be going for victory in the general classification and the Manx Missile Mark Cavendish will be aiming to retain the green points jersey he earned last year. Some people say he's arrogant but he always remembers to thank his teamates whenever they set him up for a stage victory and true to form Cav sent us a little thank you for the awesome job Kev did on the Team Sky Tour de France teaser film. Check out the number on Cav's back...no worries big man our pleasure.

Mystery Jets - Greatest Hits
No this isn't a track listing for The Mystery Jets's greatest hits album, it's their new music video, entitled 'Greatest Hits'. Cut by Jimmy.
Awwwww, oh to be young and in love........ Remember taking your girlfriend to the funfair when you were 15 years old and trying to win her the biggest cuddly toy they have? Remember failing? Of course you do! Nobody wins the big bear, it's all a fix and don't kid yourself either! The only person that bear is going home with is a gypsy and if we're being picky, it's technically a mobile home.
Going back to what's important, this is the band's new video by Director Jem Goulding. Jem wanted to create a cinematic Tarantino-esque look for this video as a sort of "Lost Boys meets Mean Streets" and shot it all on 16mm. Aside from being a great video it's also a banging tune! Oh and stay with the black screen at the start, it has a purpose.

Team Sky - Tour de France Teaser
There's no arguing that we're a healthy bunch here at tenthree but if I'm being honest, we all like to talk a big game about how far we've run, how early we've been to the gym, how much quinoa or fat free organic free range still alive yoghurt we've eaten. Let's forget ourselves for a minute! The guys featuring in this little teaser trailer know a thing or two more than us about being an athlete, in fact, they define the word. The Tour de France, steeped in history, is quite possibly the most famous of all endurance races. Only at the peak of human physical fitness can you even begin to dream about dreaming about being involved in such a race. ANYWAY. As huge fans of cycling we were delighted to be asked by Director James Willis to help with a little promo for Team Sky. Cut by Kev, using clever sound design and some eyegasmic Team Sky footage, we hope everyone gets as excited as we are for the Tour de France with this teaser. To the peleton!

We do not condone bad table manners or naughty children here at tenthree but on this occasion, MJ, Becs and the rest of the Aldi team make it endearing...sort of? Palma Pictures Arrive In Barcelona
Barcelona FC have been in the news a lot lately following their recent fall from grace in the Champions League semi-final against Chelsea. The team hailed as 'The greatest club team of all time' has under-achieved this season and with the departure of Pep Guardiola this summer, it's all looking doom and gloom. However, the boys might have a reason to smile when they see how their beautiful city is portrayed in this new film from Palma Pictures, Barcelona.
Close friends of tenthree, Palma Pictures have expanded with a new production base in Barcelona and Quin cut this film from a beautiful selection of rushes showcasing the diversity and opportunity of locations in this unique city. Making it extra special, Deborah Williams (Quin's better half), wrote and performed the track! What a couple!

Kev Livingstone.... I mean KEN
Thanks to our newest Editor Kevin Palmer, a very emotional Ken Livingstone broke down in tears yesterday after watching his official election video. This is true, I'm not making it up.
While promoting his bid to become the next Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone was so moved by the video, he wept. Comforted by a soft pat on the back from his party leader, Ed Miliband, Livingstone said the video was "A tear-jerker" while Miliband described it as "Very powerful". In our opinion, he was crying more at the craftmanship of the edit, obviously this is subjective.
We don't usually have a habit of making grown men cry and hopefully nor does Kev but we're glad that Ken can go into the election with a strong campaign video and we wish him all the best. *tenthree also wish all the other parties the best and are in no way affiliated with any political party*

However, they've launched a fabulous campaign to promote the spring/summer 2012 womenswear range for the Tesco brand F&F. Here it is.

Plan - International
Throughout the month of January, Becs' time was taken up by this mammoth project for global children's charity - Plan. Director MJ Delaney travelled to some of the world's poorest countries to spend time with a few of the children and listen to their stories of life growing up in extreme poverty. These humbling films only touch upon the awful conditions these children are subject to in every day life, but in the face of adversity they remain able to smile at the thought of one day getting an education or being able to provide for their family. Plan work to promote child rights and lift millions of children out of poverty based around 8 core values; Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Protection, Economic Security, Emergencies, Child Participation and Sexual Health.

First Love
Dr Martens and the models are back! This time, they're in love! The next installment in this beautifully shot series from Fred & Nick follows on from 'First Heartbreak', which was clearly a real hit with Rihanna as she attempted to re-create the style and feel for her hugely popular video 'We Found Love'. We're looking forward to showing more of this campaign, but for now, feel the love!

Vision Express - Taken
Does this Dog not realise it's -10 outside? We're all walking around London (I mean working), while he's darting all over the country, hiding people's glasses! Yes, the lengths a man's best friend will go to in order to prevent his owner looking unfashionable becomes ever so evident in this beautifully shot piece by the superb James Griffiths. Vision Express took cast and crew to the picturesque all-terrain countryside of Wales to film their latest ad, showcasing this amazing canine in full flow as it appears as though he travels the length and breadth of the country to dispose of a pair of spectacles.

Steven Seagal - DALOC
He is unquestionably the toughest man on the planet and star of the blockbusters Under Seige, Under Seige 2 and Hard To Kill.... He's been known to attack sharks when he smells them bleed and his fists make the speed of light wish it was faster - but what you may not know is that deep down, Steven Seagal is a warm, sensitive guy, who enjoys the simple, homely things in life. In an unlikely collaboration, the man himself appears in the latest spot for Scandinavia’s premier manufacturer of steel, wooden fire and security doors - DALOC.

Virgin Media - Keep Up!
Virgin Media have employed the services of Olympic gold winning medalist and amateur comedian Usain Bolt for their new 'Keep Up' campaign. Filmed on location in Jamaica, the adverts show Usain impersonating Branson in his own office, whilst telling us all about the new double-speedy services from Virgin Media. We have to hand it to both of these guys, as they pull off a rather spectacular comedic performance and make for a very entertaining series of spots. Directed by Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses). We're so Hollywood.

Aldi - Most Liked
Yet again Aldi has stolen the show, more specifically, Jean from Aldi 'Tea'. According to the article here on Campaignlive, Aldi 'Tea' was the most-liked ad of 2011! It fought off stiff and popular competition from John Lewis, Comparethemarket.com and VW Passat to claim the top spot. Here she is in all her Glory.

Martell - Elegance
Happy New Year to all from tenthree! Hopefully you all enjoyed it as much as we did, in fact, some of us are enjoying it a little too much and are still in the Caribbean - ahem, Quin.
Nevertheless, it's back to more important matters. After a long wait, we've finally been allowed to reveal a piece of work we cut way back in the summer with Director Chris Sweeney. TBWA\Shanghai launches the next phase of the "New Elegance" movement for Martell Noblige with this brand new television commercial leading the next phase of a fully integrated campaign series. Shot entirely in Hong Kong, the advert utilizes visual metaphors of the product experience, cleverly demonstrating the link between elegant men and their choice of elegant cognac.
